5.6.  Color Search

May be the color search is seldom used as single search method, however, in combination with the filter "Search within this directory" or another search method such as Text search or Sketch search it is absolutely helpful.

[Note]Note

In order for the Color Search to be used effectively, all table lines should be indexed. For own part catalogs this will be the case normally, for supplier catalogs, only a certain percentage is indexed by default. However, administration can subsequently index anytime.

The colors of the components in the search results are defined by the CAD model and data. It may happen that there is no match with the color of the real component.

Following example shows the use in combination with the filter "Search within this directory".

  1. Set the desired Search directory.

  2. Click on Color .

    Select the color directly from the pre-defined fields by clicking on it.

    -> The selected color is marked by a green checkmark.

    You can also specify Custom colors.

    For this, click on the plus sign.

    You can specify colors directly by entering RGB code or moving the point in the color field. Finally click on Apply. If needed, you can add more colors.

  3. Enter a value for the minimum Similarity. Default is 75.

  4. Finally click on Apply and search.

    -> The search results are displayed.

    -> In the search field, the search parameters are displayed.

    -> Preview images of result parts do not show the search color in any case.

  5. Open the 3D preview by clicking on the icon .

    -> Here, the search color is visible.

  6. Open the part.

    -> The table only shows lines with "Finish = red".

    When turning off the Search filter all product lines are displayed.
