WITTENSTEIN presents industrial servo drive solutions as CAD- and CAE-ready data sets

The cooperation with CADENAS gives design engineers access to the electronic product data of WITTENSTEIN's portfolio

This year, visitors to HANNOVER MESSE and LogiMAT in Stuttgart will be able to experience WITTENSTEIN SE's innovative drive concepts. WITTENSTEIN's product innovations include the cyber® iTAS® system 2, which is designed for automated guided vehicles (AGVs), autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and other mobile platforms. Machine and plant builders will be able to experience the electromechanical servo drives up close at the exhibition booths in April 2023 and get more information from the experts. To this end, drive technology manufacturer WITTENSTEIN and software company CADENAS have developed a digital product catalog including a configurator.

Interested parties can also find numerous other industrial-grade products from the portfolio via the 3Dfindit visual search engine, the manufacturer portal and on the WITTENSTEIN website. These include motors, actuators, servo controllers, drive systems and related accessories.

Fast way to individual product data

The electronic product catalog with CAD and CAE models in 2D and 3D is based on eCATALOGsolutions technology. Thus, the two companies guarantee users such as developers, mechanical and electrical designers as well as project planners always up-to-date, comprehensive and high-quality data sets.

In addition, the online tool also functions as a product configurator. This allows users to put together servo drives individually so that they fit optimally into their design. In doing so, the function follows strict rules so that designers can only digitally configure products that function properly in implementation. At the same time, the tool provides an adapted 3D preview and technical dimensional drawing of the component designed according to the user's own specifications. In this way, errors can already be avoided during the configuration process without having to deal with lengthy and expensive consequences.

Users can then download the models free of charge in more than 100 native and neutral formats and thus integrate them into a wide variety of CAD systems in an uncomplicated manner as well as without data loss. This makes the time-consuming and tedious search for components a thing of the past: The digital product catalog from CADENAS replaces

  •  long self-research,
  •  the individual request for data from the manufacturer,
  •  the conversion of generic formats and
  •  the error-prone design with outdated component data.

In addition, comprehensible input and output parameters simplify the selection of suitable parts from WITTENSTEIN.

CADENAS and WITTENSTEIN for the future

The two companies are continuing their successful collaboration. WITTENSTEIN already presented the new joint project at SPS - smart production solutions 2022: The management shell is becoming the standard for Industry 4.0. As part of this, the CADENAS solution is to enrich the management shells of WITTENSTEIN's MCAD and ECAD submodels.

A demonstrator illustrating what this might look like was on display at SPS. This work also feeds into the IDTA (Industrial Digital Twin Association) working group, which uses the standardized AAS submodel to link 3D models to the digital twin.

The electronic product catalog is part of a consistent data integration along the entire customer journey - from the initial selection of a product, through design, to after-sales service. For this purpose, the interfaces of the existing tool landscape are expanded in order to offer interested parties precisely tailored information.

Intuitive use in particular is a priority: "We want to ensure our customers have quick access to the technical data of our servo drive solutions - this speeds up the design process enormously," explains Carolin Ank, Head of Product Management at WITTENSTEIN cyber motor GmbH.

At CADENAS, Thomas Lang supports WITTENSTEIN as Key Account Manager and is pleased about the customer's digitization offensive: "WITTENSTEIN's activities around the digital twin are impressive and in full swing. Our new idea is to drive virtual commissioning at WITTENSTEIN through CADENAS' CAD and CAE models."
