Founding of the BIM Building Automation & Electrical Engineering Consortium within the VDMA

CADENAS and 23 companies, institutes & universities are working towards greater awareness and greater consideration in the BIM planning process

In order to better represent the topic of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for building automation and electrical engineering by the VDMA, the consortium BIM Building Automation and Electrical Engineering (AG BIM GA/ET) in the VDMA was founded on September 8, 2022 by 18 companies and 5 universities and institutes from the fields of building automation and electrical engineering.

The consortium takes over the previous working groups of the trade association Automation + Management für Haus + Gebäude - AMG and will continue them concentrated on the topic of BIM. The working group is to serve the creation of a greater awareness and stronger consideration of the entire technical building equipment, in particular building automation and electrical engineering, in the BIM planning process. To this end, the work and activities in the field of BIM are to be better coordinated and the financing of upcoming projects is to be ensured.

In addition to advising and informing working group members on all issues relating to BIM, and creating and collaborating on technical standards on the subject of BIM, the consortium is available for cooperation with other associations and organizations in the field of BIM. Membership in the working group is open to all interested companies, universities and institutes. Training courses on Open-BIM will also be offered in the future for all those interested in the topic of BIM.

CADENAS as a valuable partner for digital product data for the BIM planning process

Karsten Spieß and the team of the CADENAS Competence Center for TGA compliant BIM CAD product data support component manufacturers in the optimal provision and marketing of VDI 3805 compliant product data. With the digital product catalog solution from CADENAS, manufacturers can generate extensive multi BIM & CAD product data. This makes it possible to offer planning data with millions of combinations in terms of CAD system, classification, specifications, level of development, languages, etc. from a central database - no matter what individual requirements customers have for the respective product data.
