1.6.4. Configure roles

Before the user-role concept can be carried out the roles must be configured.

[8]For training purposes when using PLDBDEMO link database, roles were already configured.

In the Category area click on Roles.

--> In the Roles area you can find a list of all previously configured roles.

  • DUMMY

  • ECAT1

  • ECAT2

  • ECAT3

  • ECAT4

  • etc.

The following concentrates on the above mentioned roles.

Buttons

Via the New and Copy buttons additional roles can be added.

Enter the name of the role and confirm with OK.

  • New

    By clicking on New the above dialog shows up.

    You receive an empty template.

  • Copy

    Clicking on Copy gives you the same dialog as above.

    The entries in the selected roles are copied.

    [Tip]Tip

    You can work most effectively when using similar roles as templates and then only changing the respective differences.

  • Delete

    Select a role and click on Delete.

Tabbed pages

On the Roles page you can find the following tabs:

  • General

    Configuration for conditions of export, row display, tree display, etc.

  • Display

    Allocation of graphics for enhanced status light

  • Menu

    Configuration of activation status for individual buttons on the LinkDB toolbar

  • E-mail

    Configuration of the data for the Request ERP number per e-mail dialog in PARTdataManager

  • Translations

    Translation for the Description of roles and the Tooltip displayed for exportable lines

  • Standard name, Standard name (short), BOM name

    Role specific definition of the naming rule for file display

    In the PARTlinkManager identically named tabbed pages are available for a role comprehensive definition. Usually this is the best option.
