3.5.2.4. Symbols

[Note]Note

Adding symbols may happen after the process of modelling additionally and optionally. Normally this step will happen in an automated process.

Symbolic views can be added to the eCATALOGsolutions data model by adding 2D DXF/DWG drawings. These files must be stored and maintained in the catalog folder. It is recommended to use a “pool” folder and link the DXF/DWG files like described below.

  1. The Symbol must be added as an additional export format to the eCAT project file:

  2. A CNS class must be set, too (“CNSCAX|GFX|LAYOUT” or “CNSCAX|GFX|SYMBOL”, the behaviour is identical).

An example can be found under Section 5.12.13.2, “Classify symbols (DXF/DWG) as "Additional export formats" (manually)”.

  3. The command to assign the symbol (with the ID, as given in Step 1) is “ADDFILE://xxxxx” and xxxxx represents the ID.

Currently[8] the only system that supports symbolic views is Revit.
