4.3.1.47.  eCATALOGsolutions: Quasi classification to eClass 8.0 Advanced

As of V9.08 you can add eClass 8.0 Advanced information to projects via BMEcat-Importer (call up in PARTproject):

The importer fetches the respective section from the BMEcat 2005 [50] xml file (provided by catalog supplier) and puts it into the project directory.

Then at an export the respective information is transferred to the CAD system and can be evaluated there.

Some advantages of eClass 8.0 Advanced are for example:

  • Attributes can be set as variable, which is interesting for electrical manufacturers for example. If the number of ports changes for example, then only the variable has to be changed, but not a new classification is needed.

  • Furthermore it is possible to inherit classification attributes.

[50] The BMEcat format is based on XML technology and allows standardized exchange of catalog data and product classification systems such as eCl@ss for example. A BMEcat catalog of the version 1.2 contains the element CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (among others). This element allows the complete transfer of one or more classification systems including attribute definitions and key words.
