5.4.2.1. Example

In this example searching for a geometrical feature is combined with a 2D Sketch search.

Initial situation:

-> The desired search directory for own parts has been chosen (see Section 5.2, “ Filter - Add directory as search filter ”).

-> Using the 2D Sketch search a search for a flange (circle) has been performed.

With only one sketch besides "discs" also completely different parts are found, as only one single dimension has been specified.

The sketch search works well together with a search for geometrical properties. You can specify a 2nd dimension (for example, the thickness of the search part) also with the help of a geometrical feature.

  1. Open 3D Shape Search and then click on Advanced search for geometric features.

    Open dialog area "Geometric features"

    Open dialog area "Geometric features"

-> The dialog area Geometric features is opened.

  2. Under Global Attributes, click on Size.

-> The respective dialog area is opened.

  3. Under Minor Dimension (mm), enter the value 8, for example.

    [Note]Note

You can also search for other units such as "Inch", for example. For this, open the list field under Units.

  4. Click on Accept and search.

-> Now the searched flange shows up under the first results.

  5. Open the desired part.

-> Table and 3D view are displayed.

Flange with a thickness of 8 mm

Flange with a thickness of 8 mm

[Note]Note

For own parts, normally 100% of all table lines are indexed, for supplier parts, only a certain percentage. If you want to register 100% of lines, the index can also be completed subsequently by administration.

PARTadmin -> Index administration -> Geometrical search index -> Create/Update -> Percentage fraction
