Do you have what it takes to become Engineering Newcomer 2022?

Start of the 9th edition of the popular student design competition with prize money worth a total of €7,500

It's that time again: The Engineering Newcomer design competition is on the lookout for the most creative young engineers in the field of design and development. The organizers CADENAS GmbH, norelem Normelemente GmbH & Co. KG, Bundesarbeitskreis Fachschule für Technik, MDESIGN Vertriebs GmbH and ZUKEN E3 GmbH are excited to see many innovative project designs from students all over the world.

Students of technical disciplines from a university or technical school can participate with their project designs and product ideas, which they have developed during their education. The best constructions receive attractive cash prizes worth a total of €7,500 in addition to the Engineering Newcomer award. The challenge not only provides an ideal stage for demonstrating inventive talent and technical understanding. Schools can also compete, as the Engineering Newcomer's Eternal List shows which educational institution puts forth the most creative engineering teams. The winners get the opportunity to realize their project design with the necessary parts, which are provided free of charge by norelem Normelemente GmbH & Co. KG.

Winning projects of the last years

Just register, upload your project and be part of it!

Here’s how to participate: At www.engineering-newcomer.com, students can upload their engineering project or final thesis including project description, sketches, screenshots, tasks etc. After the closing date (July 31, 2022), the submissions will be evaluated by a jury of experts based on the following criteria, among others: How creative and original is the design? How is it implemented in practice? What are the market opportunities, practical value and technological benefits? Extra points are awarded for the use of norelem parts and for uploading the design as CAD & STEP file to www.PARTcloud.net in the category "Challenges/Engineering Newcomer 2022".

As every year, there are hefty cash prizes in store for the winning teams as well as their educational institutions. The first-place team and their respective school can look forward to €2,000 each. Second place will each receive €1,000 and the third-place team €500 in prize money. The Engineering Newcomer Competition can also be used as an excellent career springboard: Participation or even a victory as a reference can enhance one's own resume. In addition, budding engineers and technicians benefit from exchanging ideas with innovators and investors.

Engineering Newcomer Eternal List: Which school has the most talented young engineers?

The Eternal List was created during the course of the competition. The participating schools collect points each year for their students' participations and victories. At the end of each challenge, it is revealed which school has so far sent the most successful and creative young engineers into the race. The educational institution that finishes in first place at the end of the competition receives an additional €500.
