CADENAS joins the working group of the DIN SPEC project as a member of the VDMA BIM working group

Karsten Spieß, CADENAS, takes over as Vice Chairman of the Standardization Project for the Provision of BIM Data for CAFM

On March 22, the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) launched a new standardization project entitled "Open BIM in the real estate life cycle - Requirements for data transfer from design to real estate operation". DIN SPEC 91555 for the standardization of data transfer is intended to build a bridge between planning/construction and real estate operations. It enables lossless and high-quality data import from authoring tools into Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems. These systems enable software-based management and administration of real estate. However, although Open BIM has been a household name among those involved in the real estate lifecycle for several years, few BIM models have been created that are suitable for the subsequent operations phase - this will change in the future.

Cover the entire real estate life cycle

DIN SPEC 91555 defines requirements for data transfer in the operational phase, covering all information needs throughout the life cycle of a property. In addition, the software systems involved are required to interface with classifications and mapping procedures (e.g. VDI 3805/EN ISO 16757: IFC class to CAFM class).
