The LinkDB establishes the link between the geometry data of standard parts and manufacturer catalogs and ERP/PDM data from different systems and databases without violating the integrity of the systems involved.[1]
Advantages resulting from the use of LinkDB:
Use of a user-role concept with display of preferred parts and export criteria helps control use of parts.
Separation of geometric data and additional data
Component variants are saved in the LinkDB and not in the original tables. This means that catalog updates can be carried out easily without the risk of data loss.
Incorporate classifications (perhaps already available in ERP)
Integration / classification of any data (PARTwarehouse)
=> Expansion of the search options and thus increase the reuse of own parts
Turntable - all information at a glance
User and role dependant, different views of the data inventory
The information specific to each workstation should be available at each workstation.
For example: Purchasing profits from targeted part comparison (in cooperation with the geometrical search)
