Initial situation: You want to place a series of holes with the same spacing in a profile rail.
The following figure shows the face where the boring shall be placed and the plane for the sketch of the boring.
Step 1: Set a boring, which is to be used as pattern origin for the others.
To do so, create a sketch with the following contour.
Define a point as the pattern origin (first the Insert point button, then the Pattern origin button).
Rotate the created contour using the context menu command Cut -> Rotate.... [Rotate...]
-> Intermediate result: The original boring of the pattern has been created.
Step 2: Create drilling series
Create a new sketch in the plane in which the original hole for the pattern is located using the command New sketch. [New sketch...].. command to create a new sketch.
In this sketch, via button Insert point
, set the starting point for the pattern design exactly at the same place where the pattern origin is in the other sketch.
Copy the point using Move selection
.
Delete the base point using Delete element
as it would otherwise be created twice. The base point is located in the other sketch as the pattern origin.
Now you have following situation.
Close the Sketcher by clicking on the Apply changes [Accept changes] button
.
Select the history point Cut Rotate (based on sketch with pattern origin [Pattern origin] ) and, holding down the Ctrl key, also the sketch containing the pattern points.
Then call up the context menu command Create pattern.
Final result: The hole pattern is inserted. You can see the Pattern design step in the 3D history [3D History].
