[Note]Note

The single parameters of dimensionings are displayed in the docking window Edit element.

Example for horizontal dimensioning

Details on the single tools and their parameters can be found in the following.

The dimensioning mode can be opened in different ways:

  • Via PARTdataManager -> button 2D derivation -> docking window 2D derivation -> context menu command Dimensioning mode or alternatively icon Dimensioning mode .

  • Via PARTdesigner -> docking window 3D History -> context menu Plane -> New 2D drawing...

    Call New 2D drawing...

    Call New 2D drawing...

-> A view with Sketch history and Sketcher is opened.

  • Via PARTdesigner -> File menu -> New drawing

In the following the single tools/functions of Dimensioning mode are explained.

  • Horizontal dimensioning at 2 points

    1. Select first reference point...

    2. Select second reference point...

Now the dimensioning line is attached to the cursor.

    3. Select dimension position or base dimension...: Drag the dimensioning line to the desired position.

If it is about multiple dimensionings which shall connected with always the same offset, then first click on a base dimension and then on the desired position. In this case the offset refers to the base dimension and not on the line to be dimensioned itself. When a base dimension changes, all dimensioning based on it are also automatically changed.

-> The docking window Edit element is opened.

    4. If needed, in the docking window Edit element, adjust the values of the single parameters.

      • Dimension text:

By default, "{AUTOMATIC}" is displayed in curly braces.

"AUTOMATIC" takes the current value from the geometry.

Define a static or dynamic or mixed static-dynamic Dimension text.

        Dimension text: static

        Add any static text.

        Hello

        Dimension text: static-dynamic

        Connect the two options.

        K={K}

        Dimension text: dynamic

Only enter the desired variable. The respective value is dynamically generated.

        {L}

      • Height: Type size

      • Arrow size:

      • Relevant digits: Specification of the displayed Decimal digits of Dimension text.

      • Offset: Distance between dimensioning line and bounding box

      • Other direction: The dimensioning line is positioned on the other side of the element.

      • Dimension adjustment:

        Dimension adjustment: left

        Dimension adjustment: left

        Dimension adjustment: centered

        Dimension adjustment: centered

        Dimension adjustment: right

        Dimension adjustment: right

      • Automatic adjustment:

        • Checkbox deactivated: The entry under Dimension adjustment is considered in any case.

        • Checkbox activated: The entry under Dimension adjustment is only considered, if the dimension does not fit between the arrows.

      • Horizontal offset: Define the horizontal text shift of the dimension text from center.

  • Vertical dimensioning at 2 points

See Horizontal dimensioning at 2 points

  • Parallel dimensioning at 2 points

See Horizontal dimensioning at 2 points

  • Diameter with angle and distance

    1. Select circle: Click on the circle to be dimensioned. -> The dimensioning line appears.

    2. Select dimension position: Position the dimensioning (inside or outside the circle).

Variant 1: Fix the Angle of the line with a single mouse click. Then drag the entire dimensioning onto the desired Position and deposit it with a mouse click.

Variant 2: Fix angle and position of dimensioning in one step by a double-click.

    3. Adjust the dimensioning in the docking window Edit element via input fields.

Offset "0" results in a diagonal as dimensioning line.

      Angle refers to X axis.

  • Radial dimensioning with angle and distance

Create radius of a circle or arc

    1. Select circle or arc

-> The dimensioning line is attached to the cursor.

    2. Select dimension position: Position the dimensioning and fix it with a mouse click.

    3. In the input fields of the docking window Edit element, adjust the dimensioning's single parameters, if needed.

For example, you can adjust the angle. 0° lays on the bisecting line of the segment of the circle.

  • Half value offset dimension from line

    1. Select reference line...: Click on the reference line (rotational axis).

    2. Select dimension point...: Click on the point, whose distance to the reference line shall be dimensioned.

    3. Select dimension position or base dimension...: In the free space, click on a point which is approximately corresponding to the desired offset.

If it is about multiple dimensionings with always the same offset, first click on a base dimension and only then on a point in the free space. In this case, the offset refers to the base dimension and not to the point.

-> The docking window Edit element is opened.

The drawing illustrates the dimension between rotational axis and line to be dimensioned (on the right [standard vertical dimensioning]) and half dimensioning (on the left [duplicate value]).

    [Note]Note

Rotationally symmetrical points are dimensioned from point to line with help of the function Half value offset dimension from line. Though the depicted dimension line only describes half of the dimensional length (therefore "Half value"), the dimensional value, however the whole dimensional length!

  • Angle dimensioning at 2 lines

    1. Select first line...

    2. Choose second line... (counterclockwise)

    3. Select distance and orientation of dimension...: The angle is oriented depending on the chosen quadrant.

    4. If needed, adjust the parameters in the docking window Edit element.

  • Distance dimensioning from point to line

    1. Select reference line...: Click on the reference line.

    2. Select dimension point...: Click on the point whose distance to the reference line shall be dimensioned.

    3. Select dimension position or base dimension...: In the free space, click on a point which is approximately corresponding to the desired offset.

    4. If needed, adjust the parameters.

  • Markup element by two points

This markup function sets part-annotations and is very versatile.

    Example

    Example

Follow the instructions of the status line:

    1. Select arrow end point:

    2. Define text position:

    3. If needed, adjust the parameters in the docking window Edit element.

Text position refers to the bottom left corner of the text.

  • Scale dimensions

When opening this dialog, all dimensionings are displayed in color. By clicking on Deselect angle dimensions these are not included in the changes. With a click on choose all you can include angle dimensions again.

    Attribute to be changed:

    • Text height

    • Text distance (Offset)

    • Dimension text

    • Number of decimals

Set a checkmark at the desired attribute.

    Define the Type of change:

    • Scale

    • Set to a fixed value

    • Add offset: In the input field, enter the desired Value.

    Start the changes with Apply.

In the PARTdataManager the two following tools are available in the Dimensioning toolbar, in the PARTdesigner, in the Standard toolbar.

  • Delete dimensioning

Click on the tool and then on the desired dimensioning.

  • Save drawing as 2db...

A dimensioning can be saved as a 2D sketch (file template *.2db).

When moving the cursor over a dimensioning it will show up in red.

Context menu: When clicking with the secondary mouse key the context menu is displayed.

In the PARTdataManager, you can perform the following changes:

  • Change parameters...: The dialog box Change parameter is called.

  • Delete step: The selected dimensioning is deleted.

  • Delete step include dependent elements: The selected dimensioning is deleted including attached steps.

In the PARTdesigner the following is displayed in addition:

  • Mark dependent elements: Dependent elements connected by construction then are shown in pink.

  • Attributes -> Rotation axis
