In order to create a new variable there are two options:
In the list field, select the function
Add new or click on the button again if it is already selected.
Specify the variable parameters.
Note In the Description field, a list of frequently used terms can be used by means of a dictionary for faster processing. You can find more information here.
Confirm your entries by clicking on the button.
-> The new variable is added to the variable list.
-> If the storage location [Save location] is "Only in table [Only in table] " or "In geometry and table [In geometry and table] ", the new variable is immediately displayed in the characteristic attribute table (in the last position). Using
Sort variables you can change the position in the characteristic attribute table (not in the variable manager) as required.
-> If a variable is intended for use in the geometry (i.e. storage location [Save location] "Only in geometry [Only in geometry] " or "In geometry and table [In geometry and table] "), the name is marked with an asterisk as long as the variable has not yet been used.
In the table, select that variable whose values you want to use for the new variable.
In the list field, select the function
Add copy or click on the button again if it is already selected.
Enter the variable name under Name.
When using this variant the displayed values are kept unchanged.
Confirm your entries by clicking on the button.
-> The new variable is added to the variable list.
