5.8.2.1.2.  New project

When clicking on New project, a new project is created below the marked folder.

  1. Mark the desired folder under which you want to create the new project.

  2. Click on the context menu command New project.

    -> The dialog box New project is opened.

  3. Under Project name, enter the desired name.

    [Note]Note

    The project name should be as short as possible!

  4. In the list field below, select the desired Template:

    • Template for 3D project (Standard template for 3D projects)

      3D project

      3D project

    • Template for Assembly Configuration (Standard template for Assembly configuration)

      -> The respective basic files are created.

      Assembly configuration

      Assembly configuration

      Select *_asmcfg.asy and click on Edit or on project level, click on the context menu command Open with PARTdesigner.

      -> The configuration is opened in PARTdesigner. See Section 7.13, “Docking window "Configurator" / "Assembly"”.

    • Template for 3D projects architecture with LOG (Z-axis on top) (LOGDEST variable with default Architecture as primary target market)

      or

      Template for 3D project mechanical with LOG (Y-axis on top) (LOGDEST variable with default Mechanical engineering as target market)

      When selecting one of these templates, basic variables for LOG controlling are automatically created with respective values. Basically one can say: If you want to provide a model in different levels of detail, you should select one of these templates (target market Architecture or Mechanical engineering).

      LOGDEST = Architecture

      LOGDEST = Architecture

      LOGDEST = Mechanical engineering

      LOGDEST = Mechanical engineering

      Details on this can be found under Section 5.9.4.3.5, “Example: Specifics for project creation especially in Architecture / BIM catalogs ”.

    • Alternatively you can determine the template via search button .... (Storage folder of templates is $CADENAS_SETUP\prjtmpl\default.)

    • Template for categories project: See Section 5.12.3.2, “Classification (By Categories) - (By Countries) - (By Alphabet)” and Section 3.2.15, “ Classification by Category / Alphabet / Country ”.

    • Template for copyright project: See Section 3.2.19, “ Copyright Project ”.

  5. Confirm with OK.

    -> The new project is applied with basic files in the index tree.

    Project file (.prj) with subordinated 3d, table and translation file

    Project file (.prj) with subordinated 3d, table and translation file

    • *.3db: When selecting, under Edit project, an empty 3D preview is displayed. Clicking Edit, PARTdesigner is opened where you can create the 3D model. See Chapter 7, PARTdesigner .

    • *.tab: When selecting, under Edit project, still empty project details are displayed. Clicking Edit, PARTdesigner is opened, where you can create the characteristic attribute table. See Chapter 7, PARTdesigner .

    • *.def: Translation file, PARTproject is opened on the tabbed page Translation.

      In order to create or evaluate translations, on the project file, use the context menu command Translation. See Section 5.8.2.1.13, “ Translation ”.

[Note]Note

Projects have to have an intact table, otherwise saving is not possible in PARTdesigner.

If the following error message appears this points out that no table exists yet:

Error ZA line (ZA,DA,0), number must be greater than 0.

Error ZA line (ZA,DA,0), number must be greater than 0.

This error appears as long as a table is created. If the variable is used in the model doesn't matter.

Table with one variable and one value is sufficient to avoid an error message.

Table with one variable and one value is sufficient to avoid an error message.

The error could also arise during QA check.

"No existing records in the file" is a subsequent error of "Error ZA line (ZA,DA,0), number must be greater than 0" (possibly caused, when subsequently removing table lines again).
