4.1.4.2. Data transfer and linkages

There are three basic requirements regarding data transfer and linkages.

  • Original filling

  • Update

  • New plant

The process described above corresponds to the initial filling of the LinkDB. The initial filling is carried out by PARTdataCenter (see Section 1.1, “ Article assignment (initial filling of the LinkDB) ” in PARTwarehouse Manual). The data is exported from the third-party system using a CSV file and can then be imported. The prerequisite is that the data records can be clearly identified. For standard parts, this is done using the standard number and designation.

As a result, it is necessary to keep this data up to date and enter new data as required.

If the data in the LinkDB are linked, then a continuous updating is easy by using the material master number respectively ERP_PDM_NUMBER (the designation then plays an underpart role).

See the following sections Cyclical replication, Online replication and Direct online linking.

New parts can be created using the "SAP MM Gateway" or an individually programmed gateway, for example. See New creation of parts using an ERP interface
