6.10.3. Publication mark

In order to prevent the display of projects (directories) in output media, they do not have to be removed, but it is sufficient to use the context menu command Remove publishing marker [Remove publication mark]. With Set publishing marker [Set publication mark], projects (directories) can in principle be designated for display in output media, whereby other factors also play a role.

Icons

The following icons are used to indicate the publication status [Publication status]:

On project level:

On directory level:

[Note]Note

The publishing mark er is set and saved at project level, NOT at directory level. The publishing marker displayed next to the folder icon is only an indication of the publishing status of the projects within the respective folder. The visibility of a directory is therefore not defined by its publishing marker, but results from the publishing status of all child elements.

May be the respective command is used on directory level in order to save time, however, in any case state of the projects is determining.

Example: For projects with QA status < 5, the publication marker must be removed. Using the Set publication marker [Set publication mark] command at a higher hierarchical level will not change the status of such projects under any circumstances.

Icon Meaning

The question mark appears if the status is not clear (e.g. when downloading a catalog). In other cases, you can use the Update publishing status [Update publication status] command to clarify the status.

Directory level: The icon changes from or to . Is

[Note]Note

The status of the publishing marker does not refer to the transfer of the projects to the SVN server, but to the visibility in output media. Even if the publishing marker has been removed [Remove publication mark] (gray icon ), the projects are transferred to the server.

Publication mark An -> The project may in principle be visible in output media, whereby the actual visibility is determined by a combination of various factors.

Publication marker Off = -> The project is not visible in output media.

For details please see under Section 6.10.4, “ Case differentiation concerning project visibility in end media”.

Example:

  1. Initial situation:

The publication marker is set on all projects and directories.

Meaning the green globe is displayed everywhere.

  2. The context menu command Remove publishing marker [Remove publication mark] is executed on a specific directory.

  3. Result:

    1. The globe on this directory level changes its color to gray and thus signalizes that this directory will not be visible in the published catalog version (in end media).

    2. The globe at the superordinated directory changes its color to gray-green and thus signalizes that in this directory there is at least one directory/project, where the publication mark is not set.

    3. The green checkmark at the changed directory changes its color to red and thus signalizes that local working copy and server state are different. The same applies for all superordinated directories.

Projects with QA status < 5

At projects with QA status lower than 5, the publication mark is deactivated (= gray icon ).

An error message appears when you try to use the Set publishing marker [Set publication mark] command.

The project does not have a sufficient QA level!

The project does not have a sufficient QA level!

If a project with set publication mark gets assigned a QA status < 5, is will lose its publication mark (-> ).

Example:

Initial situation is a project with QA state 8.

The QA status is set to 3.

-> A security prompt is displayed. (Then the project has to pass TestMeta again, for example.)

-> After confirming with Yes, the publication marker is removed (-> ).
