10.6. Editing media variables in the Media Editor

  • Media Variables are container for content, which is used again and again.

  • Media Variables define the table structure.

  • They are also required for special fields (e.g. under Table -> Alternative table header ).

  • If translations are required, the content must also be available in media variables. The translation then takes place either in the Media Editor [Media editor] or in PARTproject (see Section 5.9.17.2, “Translate Media Variables ”).

  • Media variables are saved in the .pmt file.

[Note]Note

You can edit media variables both in PARTproject as well as in the Media Editor [Media editor].

Editing is more convenient in the Media Editor [Media editor]. In PARTproject there are extended possibilities. For example, variables created in the Media Editor [Media editor] refer to the test project [Test project] defined in the PARTtemplateDesigner and must then be inherited to all required levels (usually the catalog level). You carry out this step in PARTproject you also maintain translations in PARTproject .

Before media variables can be created in the PARTtemplateDesigner or Media Editor [Media editor], a media variable must be created in PARTproject 1x a media variable [Media variable] must have been created. The terms key [Key] and media variable [Media variable] are used synonymously, e.g. create a key [Key] of the type HTMLTEXT on the Documents tab page.
