You can use any 3D file as search part:
- In the History dialog area on the left, switch to the 3D files tab. 
- A variety of formats can be opened: [28] ![[Note]](https://webapi.partcommunity.com/service/help/latest/pages/en/3dfindit/doc/images/note.png) - Note - Topology information/features are loaded in STEP format with the best quality (if the "PSADDONS*ADVANCEDTOPO " license is available). - The sphere [Sphere], torus [Torus] and extended cylinder [Elongated Cylinder] are then also available. The other features are read in with significantly higher quality. - Also see Section 1.3.4.6.9, “Quality of topology information/features”. - After selecting a STEP format, the Import options for STEP file input format dialog box opens. 
 
- If there are ambiguities for a file extension, an additional dialog box appears. - There are ambiguities, for example, for a file extension such as - .prt, which is used by Creo Elements as well as by NX, and also for certain versions of a CAD system.- In the list field select the desired system and the desired version. 
- The Select unit [Selection of unit] dialog box then appears. - In the list field, select the correct unit: mm, cm, dm , m, INCH, FEET, INCH/10, INCH/100 - -> The file is listed on the left-hand side of the dialog box. A large 3D preview [Preview 3D] appears on the right-hand side.
