Chapter 7. Configure roles - Details

Before the user-role concept can be carried out the roles must be configured.

For training purposes, when using PLDBDEMO link database, roles were already configured.

Click on Roles in the Category dialog area.

-> In the Roles dialog area, you will find a list of all the roles that have already been configured.

  • DUMMY

  • ECAT1

  • ECAT2

  • ECAT3

  • ECAT4

  • etc.

The following concentrates on the above mentioned roles.

Buttons

Any number of additional roles can be added using the New and Copy buttons.

Enter the name of the role and confirm with OK.

  • New

    Click on New to display the above dialog.

    You receive an empty template.

  • Copy

    The above dialog also appears when you click on Copy.

    The entries for the selected role are copied.

    [Tip]Tip

    You can work most effectively when using similar roles as templates and then only changing the respective differences.

  • Delete

    Select a role and click Delete.

Tabbed pages

You will find the following tabs on the Roles dialog page:

  • General

    Configuration for conditions of export, row display, tree display, etc.

  • Display

    Allocation of graphics for enhanced status light display for table rows and catalog index

  • E-mail

    Configuration of the dialog window when requesting an ERP number by e-mail [Request ERP number per e-mail] in the PARTdataManager or 3Dfindit Enterprise

  • Translations

    Translation texts for the description [Description] of the roles and the tooltip for exportable lines [Tooltip displayed for exportable lines]

  • Standard designation [Standard name], standard designation (short) [Standard name (short)], parts list designation [BOM name]

    These options are not used normally.

    Files names must be absolutely unique.

    The entire CAD administration, including definition of the naming rule, is carried out by default via the CAD configuration files under $CADENAS_SETUP/if<cad name>.cfg by default.
