2.7.3.5.3. Navigate the hierarchy graph

Purpose

In the graphical overview of the hierarchy, you can view large clustering structures and focus on a specific branch of the tree without changing the clustering data.

Requirements

  • The logged-in account requires clustering-view.

  • A complete, saved hierarchical clustering is available.

Procedure

"Cluster hierarchy - overview" expands the graph area above the cluster maps. The graph shows the same selected and filtered hierarchy as the tree.

The graph provides an overview of the structure, while the tree and maps remain available for a detailed view.

The graph provides an overview of the structure, while the tree and maps remain available for a detailed view.

Use the mouse to move the view by dragging an empty area of the canvas; use the mouse wheel to zoom. Hover over a node to view its path and status details, and select it to center it on the screen. Using the keyboard, you can move the view with the arrow keys and zoom with the plus, equals, and minus keys; visible nodes are also available as accessible buttons.

At a reasonable zoom level, visible nodes load representative part previews. In the overview view, the previews are deliberately omitted so that large graphs remain responsive.

Options and Decisions in Operations

Control element or State

Operating Instructions

"Cluster hierarchy - overview"

Expands or collapses the graph area without changing the clustering.

Graph Nodes

Centers the corresponding tree path and the map area in the middle. Centers the map area in the middle.

Details when hovering over it

Display node names and status counters and highlight the hierarchy path.

Panning and Zooming with the Mouse

Changes the displayed section and the level of detail.

Panning and Zooming with the Keyboard

The arrow keys move the view; the plus, equals, and minus keys zoom in and out around the center of the graph.

Node Previews

These are loaded only for visible nodes at a sufficient zoom level and are intended for orientation, not as a data source in their own right.

Result

The administrator navigates from a general overview of the hierarchy to the specific tree section and the loaded maps that need to be examined.

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Zoom in if you need representative previews; they are not displayed in the full view.

  • To evaluate the filtered graph structure and the status distribution, use the status analysis subprocess.
