4.1.5. User-Role concept

Integral part of the user-role concept is a rights administration for users and roles in order to control part selection.

Below you will find a list of user interface functions PARTdataManager User interface functions that can be customized for individual role sets/roles:

  • Display of different buttons in the ERP toolbar

    •

      Function

      Authenticate/change user [Authenticate/switch users]:

If several roles are configured, the Select role dialog box appears after confirming with OK.

      Select group :

If several roles are available for a certain user, then a button for calling the respective dialog box is displayed.

    •

      Function

      Launch PARTlinkManager

      Special right for administration

    •

      Function

      Request ERP number per e-mail

If export to CAD is not allowed then the part can be requested, e.g. at the standardization department.

    •

      Function

      Add dataset to link database

At this place a deep integration in SAP is also possible.

    •

      Function

      Preferred rows On/Off [Preferred rows on/off] :

There is a adjustable preferred rows definition behind.

For example, only the purchasing department can see the column for prices, designer A can see all parts, designer B can only see parts which have been released for a certain project, etc.

A preferred series could be defined to display only those rows that have an ERP_PDM_NUMBER.

  • Restriction of displayed columns in the table

  • Restriction of displayed datasets in the table

  • Basic or user/role-dependent export restriction [Export restriction] for rows by means of freely definable conditions.

This automatically results in a restriction on the variety of parts, as the designer may not install any parts without ERP_PDM_NUMBER, for example.

The following shows an example for the so-called status light, which controls the Export restriction.

For parts with an ERP number and "Requested status [Requested status] " not expired [Expired], the status display is green.

For parts with an ERP number and "Requested status [Requested status] " Expired, the status display is yellow.

The status display is red for all other parts.

With green and yellow the respective parts can be exported to the CAD system; with red they cannot!

Any condition is definable for the Export restriction. Colors and forms are configurable user-defined as well.

  • Colored directories and projects in the catalog index

For example, only green directories contain parts which have an ERP_PDM_NUMBER.

Orange directories could contain standard parts for example.
